When it comes to local content, measuring our performance is important to track our success. Calculation and reporting of Kazakhstani content spent is one of the legal requirements for TCO. It’s in our best interests to ensure that TCO suppliers are familiar with methodology of KC calculation. On a quarterly basis we conduct relevant training for our Business Partners that cover certain aspects of Subsoil Use Code and governmental decrees, which govern the calculation of local content, basic concepts and definitions, and examples of calculating KC in goods and services spent. Please note that this training is dedicated to TCO’s current suppliers and contractors only.
Astana, April 25, 2025 - Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) signed 4 contracts with 3 Kazakhstani companies for the supply of equipment worth more than $10.5 million. These contracts were signed within the framework of the XII Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan, which brought together more than 1,500 participants from 20 countries. TCO was the general sponsor of this event.
The annual Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan provides an opportunity for Kazakhstani companies to reach a competitive level and establish new connections with major customers. According to the official data, in 2024, the volume of production in the machine-building industry increased by 10%. At the same time, over the past 5 years, the indicator of TCO purchases from Kazakhstani machine builders amounted to 43%.
As noted by the Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kudaibergen Arymbek: "Significant emphasis is placed on the development of Kazakhstani content in the execution of all investment projects within the industry, including major projects of the three operators – Tengizchevroil, North Caspian Operating Company N.V., and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. – for the oil and gas equipment and engineering goods they procure."
Signed contracts are required to support safe and reliable operations at the Tengiz field: the equipment from these Kazakhstani companies will be used during maintenance turnarounds and for routine works. AtyrauNefteMash LLP will produce a Klaus combustion chamber, Sewon-Vertex HeavyIndustry LLP will produce a burner barrel and oxidizer vessel, аnd Honeywell Automation Controls System LLP will produce a cabinet cluster. It should be noted that Honeywell has localized its production in Kazakhstan and this equipment supply agreement was concluded as part of a trilateral memorandum of cooperation with TCO and International Machine Builders Center (IMBC) that was signed last year.
“Kazakhstani content development is a strategic issue for the country, and we are striving to further develop in-country value especially in the supply of goods from local companies. The signing of these 4 contracts demonstrates Kazakhstan’s tremendous industrial potential”, - noted Konilkosh Suyessinov, TCO Deputy General Director.
In total, since 1993, TCO has purchased goods and services from Kazakhstani suppliers’ worth about $50.5 billion and in 2024 alone Kazakhstani content spent was about $3 billion.
